Make Chana Daal in Dhaba Style at Home
- Chana daal 2 cups
- onions 3 medium size
- tomatoes 4 medium
- green chilies 4 to 5
- ginger and garlic paste 2 table spoons
- Red chill powder half tea spoon
- chili flakes half tea spoon
- turmeric 1 tea spoon
- whole spices ( black pepper corns , cloves , black cardamoms, cumin seeds)
- Oil 2 cups
Wash and boiled chana daal
In a pot add 2 cups oil add finely thin sliced onions and saute until onions becomes transparent.
When onions are transparent add ginger and garlic paste and whole spices. Stir nice add bit of water. sauteed for 5 to 6 minutes.
Add tomatoes and mix.
Then add spices…chilli flakes, turmeric, red chilli powder, salt mix it nice cover with lid on low to medium heat for 5 minutes stir in between.
When the tomatoes are soften and oil separates from masala.
Add chana daal in it and mix cover again with lid on low heat (dum) for about 10 minutes.
Yummlicious dhaba chana daal is ready. Garnish with julienne ginger and green chilies. Served with onion rings, nan or chappaties.
